About 70,000 pedestrians are injured each year, more than 10,000 of which are children. Stay alert when walking near vehicles, and if you have children it’s important to teach them smart safety habits from a young age.
Always obey pedestrian traffic signals.
Remind children to walk, not run and to look back and forth to make sure traffic is not placing them at risk.
At night, children should carry flashlights to increase their visibility.
